Isla Mujeres Marriage Proposal and Engagement Session: Blaine + Alayna

Let me start by saying there is no more romantic destination to propose marriage than the cliffs of Punta Sur on Mexico’s Isla Mujeres! It is not only an absolutely beautiful location with it’s volcanic rock, sea walk and crashing waves, but it is also the most easterly point of all of Mexico which means it’s the first place the sun kisses the country each morning…the Cliffs of Dawn!

There is always a moment…a second, really…when the ‘future bride’ turns and sees her man kneeling holding a ring when she isn’t quite sure what’s happening. When “THE MOMENT” happened for Alayna, it was a very quick second from “What?” to “OH MY!!!!!!”.

Blaine contacted me about a month before the two of them were to visit the island on vacation. He wanted to propose marriage to his love…his forever…and the cliffs of Punta Sur was his spot!

This fabulous couple first met ten years ago. There was an initial spark for them both, but their situations made it impossible to follow through then. Four years ago, they met up again with the help of social media and have been inseparable ever since.

I first met up with the couple in the parking lot of Punta Sur. Blaine had told Alayna that we were doing a photo shoot, but she had no idea what sort of session it was going to be! We walked together for a bit, down the stone stairs to the lower level of the sea walk. I had the couple stand in the spot Blaine had chosen for the proposal and requested Alayna to look off into the distance. This was Blaine’s sign to get down on one knee. When Alayna turns back around and saw him there, ring in hand, she was overjoyed. Actually, overjoyed is an understatement. She was absolutely and completely over the moon!!!

There is something magical about photographing a marriage proposal. To be part of a couple’s ‘next chapter’ their new beginning together. It’s really magical and I am thrilled to capture and memorialize this incredible moment for them.

After the big I DO and excitement that followed, I walked up to them and congratulated the happy couple. I then told Alayna that we were going to take their engagement photos!

What a wonderful afternoon! I couldn’t be happier or this incredible couple.
