Isla Mujeres Marriage Proposal and Engagement Session | Ryan + Alexandra
If you are looking for an absolutely breathtaking destination for a marriage proposal and engagement photos, look no further than the cliffs of Punta Sur on Isla Mujeres. This is what Ryan found as he was doing research for the perfect place to propose to the love of his life, Alexandra.
Ryan and Alexandra met while they were in Portugal in the Fall of 2021. Both of them were visiting family there and both decided to check out the dating app Bumble to see if there was anyone interesting around. If you know how Bumble works, you both have to swipe right and ‘like’ each other before you can chat and this is exactly what they both did! They decided to have their ‘first date’ in Lisbon where they hit it off wonderfully. Alexandra gave Ryan her number, but it was her US number and she had a SIM card in her phone while she was in Portugal so never got the message that Ryan left her after their date. Alexandra was stumped by Ryan not reaching out so she decided to send him a quick message saying hi and that she had a good time. When Ryan got her message, he told her that he tried contacting her, but she didn’t believe him so he actually send her a screenshot of his international bill to proof it! How cute is that!
They did the long distance thing for six months with Ryan in Philadelphia and Alexandra near Boston, but that’s as long as they could be apart so Ryan moved to be closer to his love.
Fast forward a year and a half to last month when Ryan reached out to me and told me of his plan. He shared the spot he liked best for the actual proposal and said that they were beach people too and that he wanted to end the engagement session on the beach for sunset which I responded with “Fabulous”!
Ryan decided that it would be best that I “just happen” to run into them and ask if I could take some photos to build my portfolio because I wanted to move to the beach instead of staying in Colorado. Alexandra was a bit hesitant and actually looked at my business card I gave them to confirm that I had a Colorado number on it (which I did). We walked together to ‘the spot’ Ryan choose and I gave the secret code phrase to let him know when it was time. He whispered a few “I love you’s” to Alexandra while he retrieved the ring box from his back pocket. I was there capturing all the excitement as the moments unfolded. It was incredible!!!!
After the big “I DO” and some engagement photos at Punta Sur, we jumped in my golf cart and headed to the beach to finish up their engagement session until sunset (which was pretty incredible that evening). I then brought them back to the ferry and they headed back to Cancun to join Alexandra’s parents at their all-inclusive, Riu Las Americas, to share the great news!
My heart is overjoyed that these two incredible people found each other! Their love story has been amazing so far and I truly believe their story will build as the years go by.
