Isla Mujeres Marriage Proposal | Christian + Wangelija

Christian got down on one knee and proposed marriage to Wangelija and she said YES atop the cliffs of Punta Sur on Isla Mujeres. This fabulous couple are from Germany so a trip to Mexico was far; however, Wangelija had always wanted to visit Mexico so they came. Their trip included other stops besides Isla Mujeres, but the time on the island was going to be the most magical because Christian planned to propose here! They have been together for 4 years and 6 months so they knew each other well! They were staying at Casa Alkima when they were on the island. I absolutely love this enchanting boutique hotel overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Christian contacted me some time back about proposing to the love of his life. I shared with him a number of different locations I thought were the best (as they have never been here before) and he choose my favorite, the overlook at Punta Sur. Punta Sur is not only the south point of the island, but also the most Eastern point in Mexico so it’s where the sun first touches the country. There isn’t any place better to ask your girlfriend to marry you!

After the initial excitement of the moment (which I secretly photographed), I introduced myself and explained that we were now going to do their engagement session. Wangelija was thrilled and so excited! We walked around Punta Sur doing photos at all the magnificent spots. After our session, I brought them to Mar Bella in my golf cart for a celebratory cocktail while they watched an amazing sunset. It was a magical day for a fabulous couple and I couldn’t be more excited to be the photographer who captured this incredible milestone for them!
