Isla Mujeres Marriage Proposal | Same Sex Marriage Proposal | Meggie + Kim

As the sun glimmered overhead, the moon was equally as bright and high in the sky on this magnificent day for two incredible women! After 7 1/2 years together, Meggie and Kim knew that it was time to make their relationship permanent and I couldn’t be more overjoyed for them!

Meggie contacted me back in December about her decision to propose to Kim while vacationing on the Mexican island of Isla Mujeres, just a short ferry ride from Cancun. Meggie looked through the images on my website and decided that the lookout point at Punta Sur was ‘the place’ to pop the question. It’s a magical spot for sure and actually my favorite! It’s a landing that sits high up from the Caribbean Sea below which possesses incredible varying shades of blues.

As they had never been to the island before, I gave Meggie step-by-step instructions on how to get to the point which made everything go very smoothly.

A week before the big I DO, Meggie told me that although the proposal was a surprise, Kim was also going to propose to her after she did. How wonderful is that! Everything went according to plan and at about 5:00pm on February 15, both Meggie and Kim took turns getting down on one knee to propose marriage. There was only one hick-up…which was actually the cutest thing ever! When it was Kim’s turn to propose, she was so excited that when she opened the box, the ring was on the wrong side. Both girls laughed and it turned into a very tender and memorable moment.

Following the proposals, I introduced myself and we began their engagement session. We walked around Punta Sur taking photos and then jumped in my golf cart and headed to Playa Norte for some beach and sunset photos. After the sun set, I walked them over to Mayan Beach Club where they had a romantic dinner on the beach.

I am so incredibly happy for this wonderful couple and I wish them all the joy this world has to offer!
