Isla Mujeres Wedding Photography | Casa Alkimia Wedding | Buhos Wedding | Brittany + Matt

It’s always a bit extra special when I have a couple from my hometown of Denver who decide to get married on Isla Mujeres! I was excited to not only photograph their wedding, but also their engagement session back home in the Rocky Mountains. What a blast we had hiking up to Saint Mary’s Glacier on a sunny afternoon last Fall. I love that Brittany and Matt choose two completely different feels for their photos!

I have photographed many MANY destination weddings on Isla Mujeres, but this was my first at Casa Alkimia. It is a wonderful and carefully thought-out boutique hotel on the Caribbean Side of the island and just perfect for a small, intimate wedding ceremony. Their nuptials took place on the rocky shore overlooking the blue, blue Ocean. It was a very moving ceremony! You could almost feel the love emanating from Brittany and Matt as they said “I Do”! After the ceremony, they signed their marriage license and had all of their guests sign it also which was wonderful! Champagne flowed as did hugs and laughter.

While guests headed over to Buho’s for the reception, we stayed behind for photos at Casa Alkimia. On the way to join their guests, we stopped at colorful and historic buildings in town for a few photos. The reception site at Buho’s was decorated beautifully and was very romantic! Sunset was breathtaking this day and we got some incredible shots of our bride and groom on the beach. As the sun set, more laughter was shared. The bride and groom’s ‘first dance’ was fabulous! They executed it perfectly! Then the general dancing begun! Fun, fun, fun!

Not only are Brittany and Matt the sweetest ever, but so are all their friends and family. It was an honor to photograph their destination wedding on Isla Mujeres AND their engagement session in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado!
