LGBTQ Isla Mujeres Wedding Photography | Zama Beach Club Wedding | Betsy + Stephanie

Isla Mujeres is not only an amazing destination (also a Pueblo Mágico) but it is the perfect location for a destination wedding. Betsy and Stephanie choose this tiny Mexican island to get married on because they love it also and have vacationed here several times over the six years they’ve been together.

I first met up with our brides at Casa Jaguar for some getting ready photos. They had a special ‘first look’ on the roof where Stephanie first gave Betsy her ring. We then headed out to Punta Sur for a pre-ceremony session along the cliffs and seawalk of the south point of the island. This is a special location for Mexico in that it’s the first location where the sun kisses the country each morning.

We then made our way to Zama Beach Club for their ceremony and reception. Zama is a private beach club and my favorite venue for destination weddings on Isla Mujeres! Their wedding party met us there for some fun photos before the guests arrived. When the guests did arrive, they were greeted by signature drinks which were named after the bride’s two dogs (LOVE this)!

After some mingling, the guests made their way down to the beach where the ceremony was to take place. Their beautiful ceremony was performed by Betsy’s aunt, Trish and her dad shared a reading. After the ‘kiss’, everyone headed over to the dock for a group photo. This was a blast and I’ve included several photos here from this moment because they really do show what fun and energy this group had!

Cocktails, hor’dourves and beach games were enjoyed by all. Just as it was getting dark, the brides danced to some cold fireworks (6 foot tall sparker fountain).

After beautiful and funny toasts, a fabulous dinner, cake cutting and first dances, the floor opened up to general dancing and everyone got on their feet!

It was a magical day for an amazing couple and I couldn’t have been more excited and honored to be their destination wedding photographer on the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres!
