Marriage Proposal and Engagement Session on Isla Mujeres at Punta Sur | Travis + Alexis

I don’t think there is a time in your life that is more important and exciting as when you get engaged. I’ve been photographing destination proposals on Isla Mujeres for many, many years but each one still makes me get goosebumps. There really are no words to describe this special moment in a couple’s life and I am so grateful and honored to be there to capture and preserve this memory for them.

Travis reached out to me at the beginning of October and shared that he and Alexis were headed down to Mexico to attend a wedding at Secrets Akumal, but he wanted to come to the island first so he could propose to his special person. Travis and I chatted and hatched a plan. After scouring the internet for places on Isla Mujeres that would be perfect for his proposal, he landed on the cliffs of Punta Sur. I told him this was by far my favorite place on the island and it was the perfect backdrop to his surprise proposal.

The day of the proposal, the skies were threatening rain and looked very ominous, but that didn’t stop us. Our plan was a success and Alexis didn’t see it coming when Travis got down on one knee. What a moment! What magic! I kept snapping images, capturing the excitement and joy.

After some time, I joined the couple and congratulated them on their engagement and explained to Alexis that Travis had planned for me to be there and capture the special moment. She was thrilled! I then shared that we were going to now do their engagement photos!

We walked around the cliffs taking photos and they shared their love story with me. I kept an eye on the sky and the distant rain storm that progressively got closer but didn’t hit us, luckily, until our photo session was done including capturing some fabulous ‘sunset’ photos with the stormy sky instead of the ball of sun. We all got wet walking back to our golf carts, but no one minded because Travis and Alexis are engaged!

I wish this amazing couple all the happiness in the world! It was a joy and honor to capture this milestone in their lives together!
